| Over the past two weeks I have had the chance to try the new Meguiars Tech Wax that was provided to me as part of my Meguiars sponsorship. So far, I have tried the wax on two vehicles, 1997 Ford F150 (Red) and a 2000 Toyota 4Runner (Metallic Silver). I must say that I am pretty impressed with this product. Both vehicles were done with no prep whatsoever. Just a basic wash and wax. I plan on doing a full detail (clay, swirl removal, etc) when it gets warmer. Meguiars Tech Wax is a polymer based wax that is to be used as a last step product (LSP). It does have some filling abilities for minor swirls and scratches. It does also seem to clean the finish so it will remove other products already on the surface. The wax was very easy to put on and buff off. I did the Toyota 4Runner by hand and removed with a Pakshak micro-fiber towel. On the F150 I used a Porter Cable buffer with a polishing pad and removed with a Pakshak microfiber towel and followed with a Meguiars Ultimate Wipe I noticed that the Tech Wax seemed to make both finishes slightly darker. Even with the Metallic silver it really tended to bring out the metaliac flake in the paint. The direction say to let the product dry on the surface for 15 minutes but I ended up waiting approximately ½ hour. After using the wax I didn’t use any type of quick detailer and let the wax fully cure until the following morning. In both instances I wiped the car down with Meguiars Final Detail. I must say I am pretty impressed with the results. For an over the counter and commercially available product I must say I am pretty impressed. The product sells for about $14.00 at Autozone and Walmart. They also have a complete NXT line that includes NXT Car Wash, Spray Wax (booster for NXT) and a Tech Protectant (vinyl). I plan to mess around with it more. I still like S100 and may end up using it as a topper on NXT for my daily drivers. ]
